Casio EDIFICE – precision inspired by motorsport
Casio EDIFICE combines Japanese technology with a dynamic design inspired by the world of motorsport. The collection is known for its distinctive chronographs, precise functions and details inspired by race cars, dashboards and advanced engineering.
These are watches for those who appreciate speed, technology and a sporty look—without compromising everyday practicality.
The story of Casio EDIFICE
EDIFICE was launched by Casio in 2000 as a range of sporty analogue watches for people with an interest in cars and motorsport. The first model, EF-100, combined a classic metal watch with a more technical and dynamic design.
In 2004, Casio launched the first EDIFICE chronograph. This was followed by, among other things, radio-controlled timekeeping, Tough Solar, advanced stopwatch functions and technologies developed with inspiration from professional motorsport.
In 2014, the first EDIFICE with Smartphone Link was introduced. The function made it possible to connect the watch to a phone and, among other things, transfer stopwatch data, set world time and ensure automatic time adjustment.
EDIFICE has since evolved into a broad collection, ranging from classic quartz chronographs and slim solar-powered watches to connected models and automatic mechanical watches.
Speed & Intelligence
The words «Speed & Intelligence» capture the idea behind EDIFICE. The design should express speed, while the technology should make the watch precise and practical to use.
The connection to motorsport is seen in everything from the dials’ layered construction to hands, pushers and colour details inspired by race cars’ instruments and controls. Even when the watch is standing still, the design should convey a sense of movement.
At the same time, the functions are developed with a focus on intuitive operation. Depending on the model, an EDIFICE can offer, among other things, a stopwatch, world time, countdown, alarms, solar power and automatic time adjustment via a smartphone.
It is technology with a clear purpose—to make precision easier to use.
Motorsport on the wrist
Time is crucial in motorsport. Fractions of a second can be the difference between victory and defeat, and this fascination with timekeeping is a central part of EDIFICE’s identity.
Over the years, Casio has collaborated with racing teams and companies from the automotive industry. The experience has inspired functions, materials and design—from stopwatch data and lap times to cases shaped with references to race-car suspension.
The result is watches that not only wear motorsport’s colours, but seek to translate its precision and functional mindset into a wristwatch.
Materials for an active life
Stainless steel is a recurring material in EDIFICE and gives the watches a solid, versatile look. On selected models, the steel is complemented by carbon-fibre-reinforced resin, ceramic bezels, sapphire crystal and other materials that combine low weight with high durability.
The collection includes both powerful chronographs and more understated models with slim cases. What they share is a design that works naturally for both an active everyday life and more formal occasions.
The EDIFICE collections
From classic chronographs and slim everyday watches to solar-powered models, automatic movements and watches with smartphone connectivity. The EDIFICE collection offers different combinations of technology and design, with motorsport as the shared point of departure.
Smartphone Link
EDIFICE models with Smartphone Link connect to the CASIO WATCHES app via Bluetooth. The connection can be used, among other things, for automatic time adjustment, world time, easy watch settings and other functions that vary from model to model.
This range is for those who want a classic analogue watch with modern functions discreetly integrated into the design.
Tough Solar
Tough Solar converts both sunlight and artificial light into energy. This reduces the need for regular battery changes and ensures the watch can keep its functions running through daily use.
The technology is found in both simple models and advanced chronographs with Smartphone Link. An obvious choice for those who want high functionality with minimal maintenance.
Automatic
The automatic EDIFICE models show a more mechanical side of Casio. The movement is wound by the motion of the wrist, providing the classic experience of a mechanical watch.
The collection combines traditional mechanics with EDIFICE’s modern design and attention to materials. These are watches for those who appreciate visible engineering and mechanical character, while still wanting the range’s sporty look.
Slim Line
Slim Line brings together EDIFICE models focused on a low profile and a clean design. The slim cases make the watches comfortable to wear and give them a more discreet look than the range’s more powerful chronographs.
Selected models combine the slim construction with sapphire crystal, solar power or a Bluetooth connection. This makes them suitable for the office, travel and more relaxed everyday moments.
Standard Chronograph
Standard Chronograph is the classic entry point to EDIFICE. Here you get the signature motorsport design with multiple hands, stopwatch functionality and details that give the dial depth and a technical character.
The models combine a sporty look with a robust construction and straightforward operation. A good choice for those who want a versatile chronograph without the need for a connection to a smartphone.
Digital-Analog Combination
The analogue-digital models combine traditional hands with digital displays. This provides access to more functions, while the watch retains a clear analogue look.
The combination makes it easy to keep track of, among other things, the stopwatch, world time, alarms and countdown. These are functional watches for those who want many options brought together in a dynamic design.
