Casio G-SHOCK – watches built to last

Since 1983, G-SHOCK has challenged the idea of how robust a wristwatch can be. The brand is known for its uncompromising shock resistance, functional technology and a design that has become an icon far beyond the world of watches.

These watches have a clear mission: they are made to be used. At work, in nature, during sport and throughout everyday life—where equipment is not meant to be handled with care.

The story of G-SHOCK

The story began in Japan in 1981, when Casio engineer Kikuo Ibe set out to develop a watch that would not break if you dropped it.

Together with the small development team, Project Team Tough, he worked for around two years and carried out tests with more than 200 prototypes. The breakthrough came with the idea of protecting the watch module inside a hollow structure, allowing it to absorb impacts without being damaged.

In 1983, the first G-SHOCK, the DW-5000C, was launched. The watch’s distinctive square shape was not created as a fashion detail, but as a direct result of the pursuit of maximum strength.

Since then, G-SHOCK has evolved from a single rugged digital watch into an extensive world of digital, analogue and hybrid watches in everything from resin and carbon fibre to steel and titanium.

Toughness with a purpose

Robustness is at the core of every G-SHOCK. Construction, materials and functions are developed from the same starting point: the watch must withstand the demands that come with an active life.

The original development goal became known as “Triple 10”: resistance to a 10-metre drop, water resistance to 10 bar and a 10-year battery life. This ambition helped create an entirely new type of wristwatch, where durability became just as important as precision.

Today, the technology includes, among other things, solar power, radio-controlled timekeeping, Bluetooth connectivity, GPS and sensors for measuring direction, altitude, air pressure and temperature. Functions vary from model to model, but the purpose is the same: to make the watch reliable and practical in the real world.

From tool to design icon

G-SHOCK was created as a functional tool, but quickly became much more. The bold design found its way into streetwear, music, art and popular culture, making the watch a symbol of individuality.

The brand is known for experimenting with colours, materials and collaborations without letting go of its original idea of strength. That is why a G-SHOCK can be a discreet everyday watch, a professional instrument and a design object that clearly stands out.

It is functional Japanese technology with room for personality.

G-SHOCK collections

From the original square digital watch and slim analogue-digital models to advanced outdoor watches and exclusive metal constructions. G-SHOCK collections have different expressions, but all build on the same philosophy of continuous development and uncompromising robustness.

The 5000 and 5600 series

The 5000 and 5600 series carry on the legacy of the original DW-5000C. The square case, the digital display and the functional design have become the very symbol of G-SHOCK.

The collection ranges from simple entry-level watches to models with solar power, radio control, Bluetooth and metal constructions. An obvious choice for those who want the classic G-SHOCK look in its purest form.

The 2100 series

The 2100 series combines analogue hands with a digital display in a slim, octagonal case. The design has clear links to the first G-SHOCK, but the look is more minimalist and modern.

The series is available in many colours and materials, as well as with features such as Tough Solar and Smartphone Link. This makes the 2100 a versatile G-SHOCK that feels just as natural in the city as on an active weekend.

Master of G

Master of G is developed for demanding environments on land, at sea and in the air. Here you will find, among others, Mudmaster, Rangeman, Frogman and Gravitymaster.

Depending on the model, the watches may be equipped with protection against mud and dust, a compass, altimeter, barometer, GPS and other functions for professional work and outdoor adventures.

This is G-SHOCK in its most uncompromising, tool-focused form.

G-STEEL

G-STEEL combines G-SHOCK’s shock-resistant construction with a more refined metal look. The combination of steel, resin and modern surface treatments gives the watches both strength and a more classic appearance.

The collection is for those who want the familiar G-SHOCK robustness in a watch that also fits naturally in the office and for more formal occasions.

Full Metal

Full Metal reinterprets some of G-SHOCK’s most iconic designs in stainless steel and titanium. The construction is developed specifically to preserve shock resistance, even though the traditional resin materials have been replaced by metal.

The result is watches that combine the raw, functional G-SHOCK look with a more exclusive feel. The collection includes both the classic square models and the popular 2100 shape.
